NORTHERN EXPOSURE TOUR
DAY 1:
Arrive in Dublin Airport and you pick up your car.

Your vouchers and tickets are presented to you at your hotel. Enjoy a hop-on and hop-off tour of Dublin city.

This friendly and informative tour is complete with live commentary. Stops along the tour-route include: Trinity College, The Guinness Storehouse, Dublin Castle, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Kilmainham Gaol and the Old Jameson Distillery.

DAY 2:
After Full Irish Breakfast you will travel southwards to the “Garden of Ireland”.

Your first stop is Powerscourt Gardens. Beautiful formal gardens, steep terraces, flamboyant fountains, statuary and the dramatic backdrop of the Sugar Loaf Mountain make Powerscourt Estate one of the loveliest gardens in Ireland.

You travel further southwards to Glendalough, a beautiful and historic glen with two lakes. One of the most impressive clusters of medieval monastic monuments in Ireland is situated here as well as an interpretive centre. There are lovely walks by the lake shore and its surroundings hills.

See the pretty villages of Laragh/Clara, Rathdrum, Roundwood and Avoca which houses one of the oldest mills in Ireland - Avoca Handweavers before your return to Dublin.

DAY 3:
Today you disembark from Dublin and tour the historical Boyne Valley Region. For thousands of years, the Boyne Valley was the centre of civilisation in Ireland and today hundreds of thousands of visitors are still captivated by the surviving monuments to past glories.

You tour the spectacular passage grave of Newgrange. Older than the Pyramids of Egypt, it has housed the remains of a Stone Age People for 5000 years.

Then onto the Hill of Tara where St. Patrick was received by the High King and where St. Patrick was received by the High King and where St. Patrick first used the shamrock as a symbol of the Blessed Trinity.

Then drive further northwards to Belfast, capital of Northern Ireland.

DAY 4:
Panoramic tour of Belfast and its colorful history.

You will see Belfast City Hall: built in 1906, in classical Renaissance style, in Portland stone, the crowning feature of the City Hall is the main dome. Pass by the Linen Hall Library which dates from 1788 and is the oldest Library in Belfast.

Next you travel along the picturesque Antrim coast to Giants Causeway. The ancients believed that this spectacular rock formation was the work of the giant Finn McCool, the Ulster warrior and commander of the king of Ireland’s armies.

Your next stop is Derry. Derry owes its origins to a monastery founded by St. Columba in 546 AD. You enjoy a walking tour along the Old Walls of Derry.

Travel onwards to Donegal for your overnight in the hotel.

DAY 5:
Visit Donegal Castle: Built by the O’Donnell chieftain in the 15th century beside the River Eske, the castle has extensive 17th century additions by Sir Basil Brooke. The Castle is furnished throughout and includes Persian rugs and French tapestries.

In the afternoon visit Glenveagh National Park and Castle. Some 16,540 hectares of mountains, lakes, glens and woods with a herd of red deer. A Scottish style castle is surrounded by one of the finest gardens in Ireland, which contrast with the rugged surroundings.

DAY 6:
Today you will travel southwards and you will stop in Belleek Pottery Factory:

Situated on the banks of the River Erne, visiting Belleek is like a step back in time. The methods and techniques developed by the very first craftsmen are still followed today. A video presentation in the audio visual theatre takes visitors through the production process before the guided tour begins. Then it’s on to the casting, fettling and flowering shops to see how craftsmen design, mould and shape the parian. Visitors will learn how the intricate strands of the basketware are woven together using techniques passed down from generation to generation. They will see how tiny petals, stems and twigs are created by hand and discover the secret that gives Belleek Parian China its distinctively pearly glow. The tour then passes through to the furnace area and ends in the painting rooms where the delicate colours of nature are artfully applied.

It’s then onwards to Dublin for your final overnight in a hotel located near the Airport.
